The Road to Fame
In 1979, Bob Chandler and BIGFOOT make their first paid appearance at a car show in Denver, Colorado. The crowd loved it. Soon, they are invited to perform at truck and tractor pulls all over the country. With its four-wheel steering and ability to pull heavy sleds, Bigfoot is much, much more than a show truck.
Bob and his truck hit fame in 1981 when they pioneered the sport of crushing cars. In a quiet Missouri cornfield, Bob and BIGFOOT drive over junk cars with ease in front of a small crowd and recorded only by a single video camera.
The same year, BIGFOOT appears in its first Hollywood film, Take This Job and Shove It. Bob and BIGFOOT later repeated the car-crushing stunt — this time in front of a live audience.
The crowd went wild. The excitement spreads fast, and the monster truck industry is born.
The Motor City Monster
In March 1983, BIGFOOT performs in front of an estimated 72,000 fans at Pontiac Silverdome, crushing cars and pulling sleds in front of a huge indoor audience. One of the largest single-day monster truck events ever held, this event is credited with propelling BIGFOOT to stardom and launching the ‘monster truck’ craze.
